Brunner lost 8-3 to Yves Hess (Zurich, SUI) where Brunner responded with a 7-6 win over Bjorn Jungen (Adelboden, SUI). Brunner won 11-10 against Christian Bangerter (Bern, SUI), then won 8-6 against Kevin Wunderlin (Biel, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
