In their opening game, Brunner lost 7-6 to Felix Attinger (Dubendorf, SUI), then responded with a 9-1 win over Dimitri Boada (Geneve, SUI). Brunner went on to lose 9-3 against Florian Meister (Zurich, SUI). Brunner responded with a 9-2 win over Rolf Bruggmann (Uzwil, SUI). Brunner went on to lose 10-5 against Kim-Lloyd Sciboz (Lausanne, SUI). Brunner responded with a 11-3 win over Joachim Porret (Neuchatel, SUI). Brunner went on to lose 9-6 against Yannick Schwaller (Bern, SUI). Brunner lost 8-3 to Yves Hess (Zurich, SUI) where Brunner responded with a 7-6 win over Bjorn Jungen (Adelboden, SUI). Brunner won 11-10 against Christian Bangerter (Bern, SUI), then won 8-6 against Kevin Wunderlin (Biel, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.

Brunner earned 2.756 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 60th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 1.662 after improving upon their best so far this season. Brunner ranks 66th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 54.788 points earned so far this season.
