Mark Walter (Lampman, SK) run at the 2017 SaskTel Tankard - South Qualifier came to an end in the semifinals with a 11-8 loss to Jason Ackerman (Regina, SK). of the 2017 SaskTel Tankard - South Qualifier in Assinboia, Saskatchewan;

Walter finished 5-2 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Walter lost 7-4 to Daniel Selke (Regina, SK), then responded with a 6-5 win over Shaylor Layman (Lafleche, SK). Walter won 8-5 against Ben Gamble (Moose Jaw, SK), then won 9-7 against Selke. Walter went on to lose 11-3 against Ackerman. Walter responded with a 6-5 win over Jeff Hartung (Langenburg, SK). Walter won 9-6 against Selke in their final qualifying round match.

Walter earned 4.144 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the SaskTel Tankard - South Qualifier.
