Dylan Johnston (Thunder Bay, NONT) lost 6-3 to Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, ON) in the Final of the Northern Ontario Travelers Tankard, held February 8 - 12, 2017 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Johnston won 8-7 over Chris Glibota (Sudbury, NONT) in the semifinals of the 2017 Northern Ontario Travelers Tankard in Thunder Bay, Ontario;
 
Johnston finished 5-2 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Johnston defeated Glibota 6-5, then won 7-4 against Bryan Burgess (Kakabeka Falls, NONT) and 7-0 against Jordan Chandler (Sudbury, NONT). Johnston won 10-2 against Ryan Sayer (New Liskeard, NONT). Johnston went on to lose 8-2 against Jacobs. Johnston responded with a 9-6 win over Al Hackner (Thunder Bay, NONT). Johnston went on to lose 6-4 against Tanner Horgan (Copper Cliff, NONT) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Northern Ontario Travelers Tankard, Johnston take home 8.745 world rankings points. For week 26 of the event schedule, Johnston did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Johnston ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
