Ross Whyte (Dumfries, SCO) 7-3, then won 10-7 against David Murdoch (Lockerbie, SCO) and 9-4 against Stuart Taylor (Glasgow, SCO). Hardie won 10-3 against Chay Telfer (Glasgow, SCO). Hardie went on to lose 3-2 against Kyle Smith (Stirling, SCO). Hardie responded with a 6-3 win over Scott Hamilton (Glasgow, SCO). Hardie won 7-5 against Ally Fraser (Inverness, SCO). Hardie went on to lose 9-5 against Bruce Mouat (Edinburgh, SCO). Hardie lost 9-7 to Tom Brewster (Aberdeen, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Hardie earned 8.503 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins.
