In their opening game, Wright defeated Jeffrey Knott (Dallas-Fort Worth, TX) 11-5, then went on to lose 8-7 against Benj Guzman (Wayland, MA). Wright lost 9-2 to Ron Parks (Eau Claire, WI). Wright lost 6-5 to Tucker Smith (Bismarck, ND). Wright lost 7-6 to Mark Willmert (St. Paul, MN). Wright lost 8-4 to Doug Schaak (Beaverton, OR) where Wright responded with a 10-6 win over Stu Cohen (Columbus, OH). Wright went on to lose 7-4 against Greg Persinger (Fairbanks, AK). Wright responded with a 7-6 win over Greg Schatzman (Seattle, WA) in their final qualifying round match.
