Alina Paetz (Zurich, SUI) qualified for the 2017 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1 playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-3 against Eve Muirhead (Perth , SCO).

Paetz finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Paetz defeated Sherry Middaugh (Coldwater, ON) 6-4, then won 7-3 against Casey Scheidegger (Lethbridge, AB) and 8-0 against Allison Flaxey (Caledon, ON). Paetz won 8-6 against Jennifer Jones (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.

Paetz earned 32.783 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1, remaining in 11th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 272.818 total points. Paetz ranks 10th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 50.417 points earned so far this season.
