Greg Balsdon (Kingston, ON) qualified for the 2017 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 2 playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 8-4 against Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB).

Balsdon finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Balsdon lost 8-5 to Carl deConinck Smith (Rosetown, SK), then responded with a 7-5 win over Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN). Balsdon won 6-4 against Dayna Deruelle (Kingston, ON), then won 8-2 against Colton Flasch (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.

Balsdon earned 19.937 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 2, remaining in 18th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 205.627 total points. Balsdon ranks 13th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 40.019 points earned so far this season.
