To advance to the championship game, Kim won 8-7 over John Epping (Toronto, ON) in the semifinals of the 2017 Boost National in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario; and won 6-2 over Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Boost National in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario;
 
Kim finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kim defeated Carruthers 7-3, then won 8-1 against Pat Simmons (Winnipeg, MB) and 9-1 against Rui Liu (Harbin, CHN). Kim went on to lose 4-1 against Epping in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Boost National, Kim take home 58.961 world rankings points along with the $18,000CDN prize. Kim move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 57.452 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 23rd overall with 268.57 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Kim ranks 8th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 199.299 points earned so far this season.
