Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, MB) qualified for the 2017 Ashley Home Store Curling Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 5-3 against Peter De Cruz (Geneva, SUI).
 
Carruthers finished 3-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Carruthers defeated Kristian Lindstroem (Lit, SWE) 9-2, then won 10-3 against Jeff Guignard (Vancouver, BC). Carruthers went on to lose 7-4 against Patric Mabergs (Skelleftea, SWE). Carruthers lost 4-2 to Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR) where Carruthers responded with a 5-0 win over Mark Longworth (Vernon, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Carruthers earned 23.531 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Ashley Home Store Curling Classic, remaining in 4th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 580.669 total points. Carruthers ranks 7th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 176.208 points earned so far this season.
