Martin Ferland (Levis, QC) won 11-5 over Stuart Thompson (Dartmouth, NS) in the Final of the Challenge Casino de Charlevoix, held November 23 - 26, 2017 in Clermont, Quebec. To advance to the championship game, Ferland won 10-7 over Chad Stevens (Halifax, NS) in the semifinals of the 2017 Challenge Casino de Charlevoix in Clermont, Quebec; and won 6-5 over Francois Gagne (Montreal, QC) in the quarterfinals.
 
Ferland finished 3-0 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ferland defeated Sebastien Robillard (Ottawa, ON) 7-2, then won 7-2 against Greg Balsdon (Kingston, ON) and 8-4 against Stevens in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Challenge Casino de Charlevoix Championship title, Ferland earned 27.846 world rankings points along with the $8,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 14 spots the World Ranking Standings into 63rd place overall with 91.014 total points. Ferland ranks 38th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 66.223 points earned so far this season.
