Maxime Dufresne (Montreal, QC) qualified for the 2017 Challenge de Curling de Gatineau Open playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-6 against Brian Lewis (Ottawa, ON).

Dufresne finished 4-1 in the 32-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Dufresne defeated Helene Pelchat (Montreal, QC) 7-2, then went on to lose 8-1 against Sylvain Dicaire (Val d'Or, QC). Dufresne responded with a 7-2 win over Sylvain Bellavance (Montreal, QC). Dufresne won 5-3 against Steve Holdaway (Montreal, QC), then won 7-3 against Susan Froud (Waterloo, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

Dufresne earned 6.305 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the Challenge de Curling de Gatineau Open, moving up 192 spots the World Ranking Standings into 267th place overall with 6.838 total points.
