To advance to the championship game, Koe won 3-2 over Pat Simmons (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2017 Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and won 5-3 over John Morris (Vernon, BC) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada;
 
Koe finished 4-1 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Koe defeated Adam Norget (Edmonton, AB) 6-5, then went on to lose 8-2 against Adam Casey (Regina, SK). Koe responded with a 8-5 win over Jeremy Harty (Calgary, AB). Koe won 4-2 against Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB), then won 4-3 against Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Direct Horizontal Drilling Fall Classic, Koe take home 45.289 world rankings points along with the $9,000CDN prize, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 6th place overall with 432.196 total points.
