Aaron Sluchinski (Airdrie, ) won 6-4 over De Jia Zou (Harbin, CHN) in the Final of the Avonair Cash Spiel, held September 29 - October 1, 2017 at the Avonair Curling Club in Edmonton, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Sluchinski won 5-1 over Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2017 Avonair Cash Spiel in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; and won 10-5 over Mike Hutchings (Morinville, AB) in the quarterfinals.
 
Sluchinski finished 3-0 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sluchinski defeated Matt Yeo (Beaumont, AB) 7-6, then won 3-1 against Danny Sherrard (Edmonton, ) and 5-1 against Alberta's Daylan Vavrek in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Avonair Cash Spiel Championship title, Sluchinski earned 21.074 world rankings points along with the $3,300CDN first prize cheque, moving up 49 spots the World Ranking Standings into 75th place overall with 44.765 total points. Sluchinski ranks 43rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 21.074 points earned so far this season.
