In their opening game, Flasch defeated Tristan Steinke (Edmonton, AB) 5-3, then won 8-7 against Stefan Staehli (Bern, SUI) and 6-5 against Ted Appelman (Edmonton, AB). Flasch went on to lose 5-3 against Yusuke Morozumi (Karuizawa, JPN). Flasch responded with a 6-5 win over Jeremy Harty (Calgary, AB). Flasch won 4-3 against Aaron Sluchinski (Airdrie, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
