Bruce Mouat (Edinburgh, SCO) won 5-3 over Jan Hess (Zug, SUI) in the Final of the Dumfries Challenger Series, held December 14 - 17, 2017 at the Idylwylde Golf and Country Club in Sudbury, Canada.
 
Mouat finished 3-2 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mouat lost 5-1 to Stuart Marshall (Arbroath, SCO), then responded with a 7-1 win over Nicholas Shaw (Barcelona, ESP). Mouat won 9-3 against Hamish Gallacher (Dumfries, SCO). Mouat went on to lose 8-6 against Mikkel Krause (Taarnby, DEN). Mouat responded with a 9-3 win over Christian Bangerter (Bern, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Dumfries Challenger Series Championship title, Mouat earned 15.737 world rankings points along with the $6,904CDN first prize cheque, moving up 3 spots the World Ranking Standings into 16th place overall with 326.526 total points. Mouat ranks 9th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 217.948 points earned so far this season.
