Thompson finished 3-0 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Thompson defeated Trevor Archibald (Halifax, NS) 6-1, then won 5-4 against Alan O'Leary (Dartmouth, NS) and 7-5 against Scott Saunders (Bridgewater, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Spitfire Arms Cash Spiel Championship title, Thompson earned 0.000 world rankings points along with the $1,200CDN first prize cheque. For week 16 of the event schedule, Thompson did not improve upon their best events, dropping from 96th to 99th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 49.713 total points.
