To advance to the championship game, Steinke won 9-3 over Graham Powell (Grande Prairie, AB) in the semifinals of the 2017 Dawson Creek Cash Spiel - Competitive in Dawson Creek, British Columbia; and won 7-1 over Kelsey Dusseault (Falher, AB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Dawson Creek Cash Spiel - Competitive in Dawson Creek, British Columbia;

Steinke finished 3-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Steinke defeated Colin Griffith (Grande Prairie, AB) 6-4, then won 5-0 against Ryan Norman (Dawson Creek, BC). Steinke went on to lose 8-6 against Balderston. Steinke responded with a 8-3 win over Powell in their final qualifying round match.
