Carruthers finished 3-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Carruthers defeated Dylan Johnston (Thunder Bay, NONT) 5-4, then won 5-3 against Shuster and 6-1 against Colton Flasch (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Canad Inns Men's Classic Championship title, Carruthers earned 60.362 world rankings points along with the $18,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 4th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 521.077 total points.
