To advance to the championship game, Schwaller won 7-2 over Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2017 DEKALB Superspiel in Morris, Manitoba, Canada; and won 6-5 over Cameron Bryce (Stirling, SCO) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 DEKALB Superspiel in Morris, Manitoba, Canada;
 
Schwaller finished 3-2 in the 24-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Schwaller defeated Kelly Marnoch (Carberry, MB) 7-6, then went on to lose 9-5 against Kyle Foster (Winnipeg, MB). Schwaller lost 6-5 to Bryce where Schwaller responded with a 7-1 win over Cameron Rittenour (Sioux Falls, SD). Schwaller won 6-2 against Josh Heidt (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the DEKALB Superspiel, Schwaller take home 20.325 world rankings points along with the $5,800CDN prize, moving up 5 spots the World Ranking Standings into 50th place overall with 119.953 total points.
