To advance to the championship game, Ferster won 5-4 over Alberta's Lorne Campbell in the semifinals of the 1993 Alberta Labatt Tankard in Calgary, Alberta, Canada;
 
Ferster finished 5-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ferster defeated Doran Johnson (Calgary, AB) 5-4, then won 4-2 against Alberta's Lorne Campbell. Ferster went on to lose 4-3 against Alberta's Ken Hunka. Ferster responded with a 5-4 win over Gord Konowalyk (Grimshaw, AB). Ferster went on to lose 5-2 against Alberta's Marvin Wirth. Ferster responded with a 5-4 win over Harold Breckenridge (Springbank, AB). Ferster won 5-4 against Scott Egger (Brooks, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
