Connor Zeidell (Medicine Hat, AB) qualified for the 2017 Red Deer Elks Junior Mens Spiel playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 4-3 against Zhi Yu Wang (Harbin, CHN).
 
Zeidell finished 2-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Zeidell defeated Red Deer College (Red Deer, AB) 5-3, then went on to lose 11-2 against Evan van Amsterdam (Edmonton, AB). Zeidell responded with a 5-4 win over Desmond Young (Airdrie, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
