To advance to the championship game, Smith won 7-5 over Breanna Rozon (Toronton, ON) in the semifinals of the 2017 Brampton U21 Junior Womens Cashspiel in Brampton, Ontario; and won 8-1 over Quinn Walsh (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON) in the quarterfinals.
Smith finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith defeated Rachel Steele (Port Perry, ON) 7-5, then won 6-2 against Veronica Bernard (Richmond Hill, ON) and 10-3 against Courtney Auld (Toronto, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
