Matthew Manuel (Halifax, NS) finished 4-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Manuel defeated Charlie Richard (Woodstock, ON) 7-5, then won 5-2 against Matthew Hall (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON) and 6-3 against Kyle Habkirk (Victoria, BC). Manuel won 6-3 against JT Ryan (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
