Walstad won 7-5 against Rich Ruohonen (Seattle, USA). Walstad went on to lose 10-8 against Alexey Timofeev (Moscow, RUS). Walstad responded with a 6-5 win over De Jia Zou (Harbin, CHN). Walstad won 5-3 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). Walstad went on to lose 8-2 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, CAN). Walstad lost 8-6 to Marc Pfister (Adelboden, SUI). Walstad lost 8-6 to Bruce Mouat (Edinburgh, SCO) where Walstad responded with a 7-6 win over Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED). Walstad went on to lose 9-5 against Kim in their final qualifying round match.
