To advance to the championship game, Payette won 7-1 over Brett Walter (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2017 Deer Lodge Icebreaker in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; and won 5-3 over Justin Fontaine (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Deer Lodge Icebreaker in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada;
 
Payette finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Payette lost 7-6 to Jordan Peters (Winnipeg, MB), then responded with a 7-0 win over Joshua Friesen (Altona, MB). Payette won 8-1 against Carter Watkins (Swan River, MB), then won 9-2 against Zack Bilawka (Winniepg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
