To advance to the championship game, Oryniak won 4-2 over Ryan Wiebe (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2017 Deer Lodge Icebreaker in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; and won 8-7 over Jordan Peters (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals. of the 2017 Deer Lodge Icebreaker in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada;
 
Oryniak finished 2-2 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Oryniak defeated Jack Hykaway (Winnipeg, MB) 6-4, then went on to lose 7-6 against Brett Walter (Winnipeg, MB). Oryniak responded with a 7-2 win over Jordon McDonald (Winnipeg, MB). Oryniak went on to lose 5-2 against Zachary Wasylik (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
