James Grattan (Oromocto, NB) run at the 2017 WFG Jim Sullivan Curling Classic came to an end in the semifinals with a 4-1 loss to Jamie Murphy (Halifax, NS). of the 2017 WFG Jim Sullivan Curling Classic in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada; Grattan advanced through the quarterfinals with a 5-3 win over Scott Jones (Moncton, NB).
 
Grattan finished 5-0 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Grattan defeated Zac Blanchard (Fredericton, NB) 7-5, then won 5-3 against Chad Stevens (Halifax, NS) and 5-1 against Brent MacDougall (Halifax, NS). Grattan won 6-4 against Terry Odishaw (Moncton , NB), then won 5-4 against Mark Dacey (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Grattan earned 11.482 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the WFG Jim Sullivan Curling Classic, moving up 58 spots the World Ranking Standings into 147th place overall with 26.642 total points.
