Richard Muntain (Pinawa, MB) qualified for the 2017 King Spud Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-1 against Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB). of the 2017 King Spud Classic in Carberry, Manitoba, Canada;

Muntain finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Muntain lost 6-4 to Tyler Waterhouse (Carberry, MB), then responded with a 8-1 win over Robbie Fisher (Dauphin, MB). Muntain went on to lose 9-3 against Kelly Marnoch (Carberry, MB). Muntain responded with a 5-3 win over Waterhouse. Muntain won 5-4 against Dean Smith (Brandon, MB) in their final qualifying round match.

Muntain earned 6.553 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the King Spud Classic, moving up 8 spots the World Ranking Standings into 110th place overall with 48.993 total points. Muntain ranks 110th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 23.836 points earned so far this season.
