Richard Muntain (Pinawa, MB) qualified for the 2017 King Spud Classic playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 7-1 against Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB). of the 2017 King Spud Classic in Carberry, Manitoba, Canada;

Muntain went on to lose 9-3 against Kelly Marnoch (Carberry, MB). Muntain responded with a 5-3 win over Waterhouse. Muntain won 5-4 against Dean Smith (Brandon, MB) in their final qualifying round match.
