In their opening game, Koivula defeated Mike Pozihun (Thunder Bay, ON) 7-4, then won 9-4 against Hailey Beaudry (Thunder Bay, ON) and 5-4 against Larissa Mikkelsen (Thunder Bay, ON). Koivula went on to lose 7-2 against Allen Macsemchuk (Thunder Bay, ON). Koivula lost 8-3 to Hackner. Koivula lost 6-1 to Mike McCarville (Thunder Bay, ON). Koivula lost 6-2 to Krista McCarville (Thunder Bay, ON) where Koivula responded with a 6-5 win over Gary Weiss (Thunder Bay, ON). Koivula went on to lose 7-4 against Ben Mikkelsen (Thunder Bay, ON). Koivula responded with a 7-6 win over McCarville. Koivula won 8-1 against Mikkelsen, then won 6-4 against Macsemchuk. Koivula went on to lose 8-3 against Beaudry in their final qualifying round match.
