John Shuster (Duluth, USA) finished 6-2 in the 5-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Shuster defeated Brady Clark (Seattle, WA) 7-6, then won 7-5 against Heath McCormick (Blaine, USA) and 6-5 against Craig Brown (Madison, USA). Shuster went on to lose 8-5 against Todd Birr (Blaine, MN). Shuster responded with a 7-6 win over Clark. Shuster won 6-5 against McCormick, then won 7-2 against Birr. Shuster went on to lose 5-4 against Brown in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the United States Olympic Curling Team Trials Championship title, Shuster earned 31.128 world rankings points, remaining in 20th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 293.357 total points. Shuster ranks 19th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 116.678 points earned so far this season.
