In their opening game, Machold defeated Mark Mooney (Plainfield, NJ) 12-2, then won 10-7 against Benj Guzman (Wayland, MA) and 12-11 against Timothy Ho (Wayland, MA). Machold went on to lose 10-9 against Bill Stopera (Ardsley, NY). Machold lost 8-3 to Guzman. Machold lost 6-5 to Ivaylo Petrov (Plainfield, NJ) in their final qualifying round match.
