Karla Thompson (Kamloops, BC) lost 11-4 to Kesa Van Osch (Nanaimo, BC) in the Final of the BC Scotties, held January 2 - 7, 2018 at the Victoria Curling Club in Victoria, Canada.
 
Thompson finished 6-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Thompson defeated Van Osch 8-5, then won 7-4 against Randi Ludwar (Kelowna, BC) and 6-5 against Corryn Brown (Kamloops, BC). Thompson won 10-7 against Holly Donaldson (Victoria, BC), then won 8-2 against Kayte Gyles (Surrey, BC). Thompson went on to lose 5-4 against Kim Slattery (Vernon, BC). Thompson responded with a 7-6 win over Diane Gushulak (New Westminster, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the BC Scotties, Thompson take home 9.075 world rankings points, remaining in 39th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 169.964 total points. Thompson ranks 75th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 39.600 points earned so far this season.
