Curtis finished 5-1 in the 7-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Curtis defeated Kelli Sharpe (St. John's, NL) 8-3, then won 6-2 against Cindy Miller (St. John's, NL) and 7-5 against Rebecca Roberts (St. John's, NL). Curtis won 7-5 against Beth Hamilton (St. John's, NL). Curtis went on to lose 8-7 against Strong. Curtis responded with a 9-2 win over Glynn in their final qualifying round match.
