Derek Bowden (Kingston, ON) qualified for the 2017 U21 Royal Slam playoffs, dropping their quarterfinals match 6-2 against Hazen Enman (Whitby, ON). of the 2017 U21 Royal Slam in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada;
 
Bowden finished 3-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Bowden defeated Charlie Richard (Woodstock, ON) 7-6, then went on to lose 5-3 against Ryan Hahn (Ottawa, ON). Bowden lost 4-3 to Sam Steep (Seaforth, ON) where Bowden responded with a 7-5 win over Nicholas Connolly (Seattle, USA). Bowden won 6-5 against Christopher Inglis (Toronto, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
. For week 5 of the event schedule, Bowden did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Bowden ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
