Sam Steep (Seaforth, ON) run at the 2017 U21 Crystal Slam came to an end in the semifinals with a 4-2 loss to Nicholas Connolly (Seattle, USA).
 
Steep finished 2-3 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Steep defeated Jordan McNamara (Ottawa, ON) 9-8, then went on to lose 7-4 against Ryan Hahn (Ottawa, ON). Steep responded with a 7-3 win over Andrew Kelly (Ottawa, ON). Steep went on to lose 4-3 against Gavin Lydiate (Hawkesbury, ON). Steep lost 7-4 to Connolly in their final qualifying round match.
