In their opening game, Gourianova lost 8-5 to Susan Dudt (Philadelphia, PA), then responded with a 8-2 win over Nadezhda Tschumakow (Brookline, MA). Gourianova went on to lose 8-6 against Tschumakow. Gourianova responded with a 7-6 win over Dudt in their final qualifying round match.
