After advancing directly to the championship game, Kevin Mattsson (Ostersund, SWE) lost 9-2 to Daniel Magnusson (Karlstad, SWE) in the Final of the Swedish Junior Mens Championship, held December 14 - 17, 2017 in Karlstad, Sweden.
 
Mattsson finished 5-1 in the 7-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Mattsson defeated Magnusson 4-3, then went on to lose 4-3 against Emil Hermansson (Ostersund, SWE). Mattsson responded with a 6-4 win over Axel Landelius (Mjolby, SWE). Mattsson won 8-0 against Johan Engqvist (Harnosand, SWE), then won 8-2 against Mans Winge (Sundbyberg, SWE) and 6-5 against Robin Ahlberg (Gavle, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Swedish Junior Mens Championship, Mattsson take home 5.486 world rankings points. For week 19 of the event schedule, Mattsson did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Mattsson ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
