Alina Paetz (Zurich, SUI) lost 7-5 to Binia Feltscher (Flims, SUI) in the Final of the Swiss Curling Championship, held February 10 - 17, 2018 in Flims, Switzerland. To advance to the championship game, Paetz won 8-3 over Elena Stern (Wetzikon, SUI) in the semifinals of the 2018 Swiss Curling Championship in Flims, Switzerland;
 
Paetz finished 7-2 in the 6-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Paetz defeated Ursi Hegner (Uzwil, SUI) 12-7, then won 8-2 against Feltscher. Paetz went on to lose 5-4 against Stern. Paetz responded with a 8-7 win over Chantale Widmer (Schaffhausen, SUI). Paetz won 7-1 against Cynthia Gertsch (Dubendorf, SUI), then won 7-3 against Gertsch and 7-6 against Stern. Paetz won 11-5 against Widmer. Paetz went on to lose 8-6 against Feltscher in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Swiss Curling Championship, Paetz take home 16.929 world rankings points. Paetz move up 2 spots after posting a net gain of 14.075 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 10th overall with 449.771 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Paetz ranks 11th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 227.370 points earned so far this season.
