In their opening game, Lyman defeated Mike Bass (Sackville, NB) 5-0, then won 5-4 against Jeff Lacey (Saint John, NB) and 6-2 against Bill Borthwick (St. Stephen, NB). Lyman went on to lose 7-1 against Trevor Hanson (Oromocto, NB). Lyman responded with a 7-1 win over Lacey in their final qualifying round match.
