In their opening game, Pettersson defeated Mats Svedberg (Silverstenen, SWE) 8-5, then went on to lose 6-1 against Jon Melin (Skelleftea, SWE). Pettersson lost 7-5 to Andreas Adersteg (Sundbyberg, SWE) where Pettersson responded with a 7-4 win over Mikael Wilenius (Stocksund, SWE). Pettersson went on to lose 8-3 against Daniel Magnusson (Karlstad, SWE) in their final qualifying round match.

Pettersson earned 2.209 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 45 spots the World Ranking Standings into 320th place overall with 8.225 total points. Pettersson ranks 329th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 3.622 points earned so far this season.
