Abe finished 8-0 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Abe defeated Atsushi Kamigochi (Hokkaido, JPN) 14-0, then won 9-4 against Iwai and 9-2 against Naomasa Takeda (Sapporo, JPN). Abe won 8-5 against Yoshiro Shimizu (Karuizawa, JPN), then won 6-4 against Junpei Kanda (Tokyo, JPN) and 9-3 against Minori Suzuki (Aomori, JPN). Abe won 11-4 against Tatsuya Ogawa (Hokkaido, JPN), then won 10-2 against Kazuhisa Unoura (Osaka, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Japan Curling Championship, Abe take home 7.838 world rankings points, moving up 32 spots the World Ranking Standings into 162nd place overall with 28.801 total points. Abe ranks 132nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 23.405 points earned so far this season.
