Shimizu won 9-5 against Atsushi Kamigochi (Hokkaido, JPN), then won 4-3 against Naomasa Takeda (Sapporo, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

Shimizu earned 6.056 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Japan Curling Championship, moving up 336 spots the World Ranking Standings into 358th place overall with 6.056 total points. Shimizu ranks 265th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 6.056 points earned so far this season.
