Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, AB) finished 5-2 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sturmay defeated Robert Mayhew (Halifax, NS) 5-3, then won 11-3 against Alex Champ (Toronto, ON). Sturmay went on to lose 7-6 against Jack Smeltzer (Fredericton, NB). Sturmay responded with a 10-4 win over Drew Springer (Regina, SK). Sturmay went on to lose 4-3 against John Willsey (Waterloo, ON). Sturmay responded with a 4-3 win over JT Ryan (Winnipeg, MB). Sturmay won 6-2 against Eric Bradey (St. Catharines, ON) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the USports Men's Curling Championship Championship title, Sturmay earned 5.775 world rankings points. For week 34 of the event schedule, Sturmay did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Sturmay ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
