To advance to the championship game, Murphy won 7-6 over Scott Webb (Peace River, AB) in the semifinals of the 2018 Dave Jones Alexander Keiths Mayflower Cash Spiel in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; and won 6-3 over Jason Vaughan (Saint John, NB) in the quarterfinals.
 
Murphy finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Murphy defeated Colin Thomas (St. John's, NL) 4-3, then won 6-3 against Martin Crete (St-Romuald, QC) and 6-1 against Francois Gagne (Montreal, QC) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Dave Jones Alexander Keiths Mayflower Cash Spiel Championship title, Murphy earned 26.384 world rankings points along with the $4,000CDN first prize cheque. Murphy move up 5 spots after posting a net gain of 16.514 points improving upon their best 5 results so far this season, ranking 32nd overall with 121.537 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
