Elena Stern (Oberwallis , SUI) won 6-5 over Sayaka Yoshimura (Sapporo, JPN) in the Final of the GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 2, held November 6 - 11, 2018 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Stern won 9-1 over Kristen Streifel (Regina, SK) in the semifinals of the 2018 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 2 in Thunder Bay, Ontario; and won 7-4 over Binia Feltscher (Switzerland, SUI) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 2 in Thunder Bay, Ontario;
 
Stern finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Stern defeated Feltscher 6-2, then won 6-4 against Jacqueline Harrison (Toronto, ON). Stern went on to lose 6-4 against Kira Brunton (Sudbury, ON). Stern responded with a 7-6 win over Mary-Anne Arsenault (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 2 Championship title, Stern earned 44.756 world rankings points along with the $10,000CDN first prize cheque. Stern move up 4 spots after posting a net gain of 39.364 points improving upon their best 5 results so far this season, ranking 20th overall with 190.785 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Stern ranks 12th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 136.882 points earned so far this season.
