Usselman finished 4-0 in the 25-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Usselman defeated Dustin Kalthoff (Saskatoon, SK) 4-3, then won 5-4 against Scott Garnett (Calgary, AB) and 6-5 against Warren Cross (Edmonton, AB). Usselman won 5-2 against Desmond Young (Edmonton , AB) in their final qualifying round match.
