To advance to the championship game, Stern won 5-2 over Ursi Hegner (Uzwil, SUI) in the semifinals of the 2018 Womens Masters Basel in Arlesheim, Switzerland, Switzerland; and won 4-3 over Irene Schori (Limmattal, SUI) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 Womens Masters Basel in Arlesheim, Switzerland, Switzerland;
 
Stern finished 3-0 in the 19-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Stern defeated Di Zhang (Harbin, CHN) 6-4, then won 6-3 against Daniela Jentsch (Fuessen, GER) and 10-1 against Nora Wuest (Wetzikon, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
