To advance to the championship game, De Cruz won 8-6 over Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED) in the semifinals of the 2018 Curling Masters Champery in Champery, Switzerland; and won 8-2 over Joel Retornaz (Trentino, ITA) in the quarterfinals.
De Cruz finished 4-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, De Cruz defeated Jan Hess (Zug, SUI) 12-4, then won 12-2 against Switzerland's Bochatay and 7-1 against Tomi Rantamaki (Hyvinkaa, FIN). De Cruz won 6-3 against Retornaz in their final qualifying round match.
