Brad Gushue (St. John's, NL) lost 8-4 to Scott Howard (Penetanguishe, ON) in the Final of the Stu Sells 1824 Halifax Classic, held November 15 - 18, 2018 at the Halifax Curling Club in Halifax, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Gushue won 7-2 over Scott Jones (Moncton, NB) in the semifinals of the 2018 Stu Sells 1824 Halifax Classic in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; and won 8-3 over Chad Stevens (Halifax, NS) in the quarterfinals.
Gushue finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gushue defeated Matthew Manuel (Halifax, NS) 8-0, then won 8-1 against 's Michael Fournier and 9-4 against Kendal Thompson (HALIFAX, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
With their runner-up finish at the Stu Sells 1824 Halifax Classic, Gushue take home 25.714 world rankings points along with the $4,000CDN prize, remaining in 2nd place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of -26.409 after improving upon their best so far this season. Gushue ranks 9th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 188.196 points earned so far this season.
