Reid Carruthers (Winnipeg, CAN) won 7-6 over Yuta Matsumura (Sapporo, JPN) in the Final of the Karuizawa International, held December 20 - 23, 2018 in Karuizawa, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Carruthers won 5-2 over Masaki Iwai (Sapporo, JPN) in the semifinals of the 2018 Karuizawa International in Karuizawa, Japan; and won 6-2 over Tsuyoshi Yamaguchi (Karuizawa, JPN) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 Karuizawa International in Karuizawa, Japan;

Carruthers finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Carruthers defeated Yamaguchi 5-2, then won 7-1 against Yoshiro Shimizu (Karuizawa, JPN) and 6-2 against Jongduk Park (Gangwon, KOR). Carruthers won 9-2 against Daiki Shikano (Sapporo, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Karuizawa International Championship title, Carruthers earned 26.156 world rankings points along with the $15,894CDN first prize cheque. Carruthers move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 22.196 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 12th overall with 310.532 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
